Job summary

Band 6 Sexual Health Nurse Practitioner (14 hours per week) An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated registered Nurse to the Integrated Sexual Health Team in Rotherham.

The successful applicant will be required to deliver Patient care, demonstrating professionalism, and excellent communication skills in all aspects of their work.

The role is varied and encompasses conducting consultations for contraception and STI screening. Responsibilities include working under Patient Group Directions (PGDs) to dispense both contraceptive and STI treatments, as well as managing STI results and follow-up care. The position also involves the provision of long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), including subdermal implant insertion and removal, and undertaking vasectomy assessments while assisting with procedures.

The successful candidate will be expected to be flexible to meet the needs of the service. The service opens Mondays to Saturday, incorporating four late evenings until 7.30pm, and is located within The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. The service delivers outreach clinics managed by the Nurses.

Main duties of the job

You will join a team of friendly skilled experienced Doctors, sexual health / HIV Nurses, Health Advisors and admin staff responsible for delivering a high standard of care to Patients.

The successful candidate will receive support from the senior Clinicians and Nurses in enhancing their existing skills in contraception and sexual health, through internal and external training packages.

  • ENB 901/8103 or equivalent course in Reproductive Sexual Health.
  • ENB 276(equivalent experience/course in sexual health.

Desirable

  • ENB 998 (or equivalent)
  • ND FRSH
  • First degree in nursing or equivalent, portfolio evidence.
  • Family Planning certificate(R71,ENB901 or equivalent)
  • STIF Course

Knowledge

Essential

  • A comprehensive knowledge of current practice and issues related Reproductive Sexual Health & Health Promotion
  • Sound knowledge of sexual health issues, STIs including HIV

Desirable

  • Awareness of Sexual Health Strategy, HIV and national priorities.
  • Demonstrate evidence of on-going post registration development.
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance
  • Knowledge of child protection and other legislation relating to sexual health service provision.
