Permanent, 10 hours per week.

We are seeking to appoint a suitably experienced and highly motivated Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Practitioner to join the Orthopaedic Triage Service (OTS) based at Rotherham General Hospital. The team receive referrals from primary care and the musculoskeletal physiotherapy service and assesses patients presenting with a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints.

We are seeking a clinician who has gained a broad range of postgraduate experience and can manage a specialist caseload of patients including those with complex musculoskeletal pathologies, using evidence-based and patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. This will include ordering appropriate medical investigations and acting on the results in a timely manner.

Continued personal development is encouraged and supported within the team and it is expected that you will have an active role in the provision of supervision and peer support for Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists, Therapy support staff and students. The post holder will also support the team in a leadership capacity, being a key contributor in the planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of the OTS Service.

Working pattern: to include a Monday or Wednesday ideally

Main duties of the job

To provide an expert OTS including face to face and non-face to face triage and specialised assessment of patients with complex musculoskeletal pathologies.

To deliver services in order to meet the Trust objectives and identified Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

To manage a specialist caseload of patients including those with complex musculoskeletal pathologies, using evidence-based and patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

To employ advanced clinical reasoning and specialist knowledge to develop specialist programmes of care and the provision of highly specialist advice. This will include extended scope skills including medical imaging ordering and interpretation, ordering of blood tests and injection therapy working within agreed local PGDs, protocols, SOPs etc

To be a key contributor to the planning, implementation, development and evaluation of the OTS Service

To provide clinical leadership and specialist clinical expertise and advice to staff on all aspects of the management of patients with highly complex needs and maintain associated records.

To contribute to the development of integrated rehabilitation pathways for relevant services across Primary, Intermediate and Secondary Care and the third sector.
