Job summary
The role of the Voluntary Services Department is to provide volunteering opportunities for people in our local communities, which enhances the experience of patients and visitors to our hospital and community sites, as well as supporting our staff.This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that makes a real difference every day. Your role will be crucial in supporting the recruitment and induction of volunteer applicants, with a key focus on their placement and maintaining strong relationships with volunteers, to ensure they feel engaged, valued and empowered.You will assist in the delivery of patient experience initiatives by offering volunteer roles to departments/wards that enhance patient care, already being provided by our paid staff.We are looking for someone who is passionate about volunteering and can engage and support volunteers, with varying skills and abilities, before, during and after their volunteering placements, ensuring that their experience is positive and beneficial to patients, the organisation and themselves.This is an exciting time for the Trusts Voluntary Services Department and we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our amazing team, with a drive to help us deliver results.For more information and an informal discussion about the role, please contact:Samantha Robinson, Head of Patient Experience and Involvement on 01709 426117 or via email Natalie.Harrison14@nhs.net
Main duties of the job
- Promote volunteering opportunities at the Trust.
- Provide day to day management and co-ordination of our team of volunteers who give an outstanding contribution of time to enhance our patients, carers and staff experiences.
- Support informal interviews to assess suitability of volunteers for specific roles.
- Liaise with areas and department staff to promote and engage volunteers effectively.
- Have the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential matters in a professional manner and in line with the department and the Trusts data protection and confidentiality guidelines and policies.
- Ensure robust recruitment checks have been collated including DBS.
- Provide effective co-ordination for volunteers, identifying volunteering opportunities.
- Support the introduction of new volunteers into clinical areas, completing local inductions and promoting positive working relationships with all staff in departments/wards.
- Engage with volunteers to provide pro-active communications through planned support.
- Have an ability to engage with a diverse team of volunteers.
- Encourage and support volunteers development.
- Ensure that our volunteer roles are having the desired impact.
- Be able to liaise with staff at all levels, both clinical and non-clinical
