Job summary

We're looking for an experienced and driven leader to join us as Head of Estates Services this is a key role at the heart of delivering our ambitious estate strategy.

Reporting directly to the Director of Estates and Facilities, you'll play a critical part in shaping the future of our organisation by managing the day-to-day operation of our estate, overseeing the work of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of around 40 staff including Estates Officers, Team Leaders, Craftsmen, Gardeners, and Works Operatives.

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a large and varied portfolio of physical assets, ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient running of all our operational estates services. Youll lead on staff resourcing, and multiple revenue budgets, driving improvements and innovations that support the long-term sustainability and functionality of our sites.

Main duties of the job

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the full spectrum of Operational Estates functions including Estates, Grounds, and Gardens Services ensuring that all planned and reactive maintenance is delivered efficiently, safely, compliantly, and cost-effectively. The role demands a strategic thinker with strong technical and professional expertise to develop, implement, and monitor Estates strategy, ensure regulatory and NHS compliance, and provide specialist guidance to both internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies. Youll shape and drive policy, lead Estates planning across the Trust, and play a key role in creating a safe, sustainable, and high-quality environment for patients and staff.   • Degree status in Electrical and/ or Electrical Building Services Engineering with experience to masters level or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Membership of a professional body.
  • Recognised qualification in grounds and gardens maintenance.
  • Management qualification i.e., Institute of Industrial Managers.

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant experience of building maintenance functions.
  • Experience of managing staff and works operatives.
  • Experience of budgeting and budget management.
  • Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently between TRFT sites and for patient visits in the Rotherham area and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010
  • Ability to motivate and manage staff and operatives to deliver good performance.
