Healthcare Support Worker - Cardiac Catheter Suite

Part time - 23.5 hours per week

We are looking for a highly motivated HCSW to join our dedicated and progressive team working in the cardiac catheter suite. Your responsibilities will include supporting other registered nurses in ensuring that our patients needs are fully met through the delivery of high quality care.

The department consists of a seven-bedded cardiology day ward, focusing on both elective outpatients, and in-patient cardiology procedures, such as coronary angiography, pacemaker implantation as well as other innovative and exciting procedures.Training and development at ward level will be fully provided for this post.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing full holistic care to a range of cardiology patients within the ward environment. You will work alongside allied health care professionals including, other healthcare support workers, student nurses, qualified nurses, cardiac physiologists, radiology staff and doctors.

The role will involve working within a varied environment, including assisting medical staff in a theatre setting, undergoing sterile cardiac procedures, working in a seven- bedded recovery bay, and undertaking out-patient pre-assessment clinics. The role will also involve a variety of administrative duties. Training will be provided to the successful applicant in all aspects of the role, and this will be tailored to what you specifically need to carry out your role within the department. This training will involve learning how to prepare sterile surgical trolleys, undertaking and recording clinical observations, obtaining venous blood samples, insertion of intravenous cannulas, recording 12 lead ECGs, and point of care testing, all of which are essential to working with the department.

The role will also involve working in an environment where safe exposure to Ionising radiation is required, and the wearing of lead aprons is essential for this role.
