Job summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Band 6 Emergency Theatre Practitioner to join the established Emergency Theatre team at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be a proficient Operating Department Practitioner / Registered Nurse with significant theatre experience and knowledge. This is a full-time post, working as part of the 24-7 Emergency Theatre. Therefore, the successful candidate must be able to cover unsocial hours and on calls. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with strong leadership and clinical skills to contribute to the delivery of high-quality perioperative care in a high-pressured environment.

Main duties of the job

The primary aims of this role is to provide high quality surgical care to patients undergoing Emergency and Obstetric Surgery and to demonstrate effective leadership to the Emergency Team. You will play a key part in supporting emergency procedures, maintaining high standards of practice and play a part in continuous improvement initiatives. You will coordinate effective utilisation of non-elective operating theatre time, liaising with the MDT to prioritise clinical urgency and patient needs. As a Registered Nurse / Theatre Practitioner, this role will provide opportunities to act as a role model for staff, whilst promoting and supporting an environment which is conducive to learning. You will manage change within the team and drive standards of patient care, service and staff development, working closely with your patients, your team, the management team and other departments. You will also be expected to care for patients overnight in the Theatre Recovery (PACU) area, when required.
