Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly team at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and highly motivated individual to undertake a level 6 apprenticeship in Healthcare Science leading to qualifying as a Healthcare Science Practitioner.We perform a wide range of cardiac investigations including: 12 Lead Electrocardiograms, Ambulatory ECG & BP Monitoring, Ambulatory ECG Analysis, Exercise Tolerance Testing, Tilt Table Testing, Cardiac Angiography, Echocardiography and Cardiac Device Implantation and Follow-Up.You will work under the supervision of experienced Cardiac Physiologists to develop the clinical skills to become an autonomous practitioner. Alongside the structured clinical training, you will study towards a degree in Healthcare Science (Cardiology) at Sheffield Hallam University, starting in September 2025. University fees will be covered via the national Apprenticeship levy. This training position is delivered over 3 years starting at Band 3 with funding secured up to Band 5 on successful completion.Candidates must fulfil the entry requirements for Level 6 Apprenticeship. Main duties of the job

Competencies will be tailored to the specific job role and may include:

  • 12 Lead ECG
  • Ambulatory ECG/ BP hook up and Analysis
  • Exercise stress tests
  • Tilt Table Tests
  • Myocardial perfusion studies
  • Cardiac catheterisation
  • Pacemaker implantation
  • Assists in Cardiac Device Clinic and Implantable Loop Recorders
Complete a Level 6 Apprenticeship in Healthcare Science (Cardiology) at Sheffield Hallam University Document findings and write accurate reports in accordance with departmental protocols Interpretation of clinical data Maintain continued professional development. Engage in training and assessments within departmental protocols. Organise and prioritise own workload making the best possible use of resources Communicate with colleagues for information regarding patient care Maintain a safe working environment and report untoward incidents. Practice safely, following appropriate professional, trust and departmental policies To work flexibly in accordance with the department needs. The department is working towards a 7-day service. There may be a requirement to work in a community setting in the future. To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team for the benefit of patient care. The nature of the job role means that clinical lists may run beyond standard session duration, particularly (but not exclusive to) the Cardiac Catheterisation Lab. The post holder must be flexible to extend shift duration to support clinical work, where appropriate
