Main duties of the job
As an Infant Feeding Midwife, you'll play a crucial role in promoting effective infant feeding practices with the following key duties:
- Leadership & Coordination: Help the Lead Midwife manage feeding services, ensuring compliance with UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Standards.
- Public Health: Lead initiatives to boost breastfeeding rates, focusing on innovative practices for underserved groups.
- Staff Training: Conduct training needs, provide sessions on best practices, and support staff development.
- Policy Development: Assist in developing breastfeeding policies, ensuring Trust guideline adherence.
- Communication: Contribute to the Rotherham Infant Feeding Policy Groups, prepare reports, and build strong relationships with health professionals.
- Clinical Support: Assist women with complex breastfeeding needs by assessing and creating care plans.
- Research: Use evidence to enhance practices, participate in audits, and support Trust initiatives with collected data.
- Safeguarding: Fulfil safeguarding duties, manage risks, and comply with Health and Safety regulations.
- These responsibilities establish you as an advocate for innovative feeding practices, enhancing maternal and infant well-being.
