Chaplaincy Pastoral Volunteer
The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust
The closing date is 31 May 2025
Job summary
Department Overview
Hospital Chaplaincy is responsible for the spiritual and religious care of patients, their relatives and staff. This is a huge task for a very small team and so the contribution of our pastoral volunteers is greatly valued and of immense benefit.
Hours
Monday to Friday to be arranged with the Chaplaincy Department.
To apply please contact the recruiting manager. Please do not apply on NHS Jobs.
Main duties of the job
The role of a Pastoral volunteer is to offer spiritual support to our patients, visitors and staff regardless of a difference in religion, or any other characteristic.
Patients will be allocated by mutual agreement between the Chaplains and Pastoral volunteer.
Members of the Chaplaincy team are not there to push their own view point onto others. They meet people and support them where they are, if they wish.
This service is available to all, regardless of belief, race, age or life-style.
In a busy hospital it is very difficult for nursing staff to be able to find time to sit to listen and reflect with patients. The regular visits of a pastoral volunteer can offer time and space where patients who want to speak to them can talk about their feelings and thoughts.
To apply please contact the recruiting manager. Please do not apply on NHS Jobs.
