Job summary
The Rotherham Foundation Trust (TRFT) is committed to providing the highest quality care to the children and families of Rotherham and this is an exciting opportunity to join the trust as a valued Consultant Paediatrician providing senior medical input into the Community Paediatric team. We are pleased to offer the opportunity for an enthusiastic, forward thinking community paediatrician with well-rounded experience and training to join our existing Community Paediatric team.
The post will involve working in a range of community settings, although you will be based in Rotherham Hospital to ensure easy access to regular team meetings, supportive colleagues (including acute and community paediatricians) and good administrative support.
You will have the opportunity to lead on adoption medicals in Rotherham, carrying out medicals, sitting on the adoption panel and ensuring high quality medical advice to inform multi-agency decision making.
You will also fulfil the role of Designated Doctor for Looked After Children. This is a statutory role within the Integrated Care Board which is bought in to Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, one day a week.

Main duties of the job
This role is offered as a full-time permanent post.
In addition to specific roles in relation to LAC and adoption, the successful candidate will have a job plan including 2 or more of the following:
Allocated doctor for one or more of Rotherhams special schools, providing assessment, monitoring, advice and well planned transition to adult services. As well as working closely with the SEND nursing and therapy teams.
Delivering neurodevelopmental clinics within community
Contributing to assessment and review of children at the Child Development Centre, as a member of the multi-disciplinary team
Carrying out Initial Health Assessments for children coming into care
There are opportunities for the post-holder to expand their portfolio and personal interests and to take part and lead in ongoing service development. There will also be educational opportunities on offer to teach medical students from Sheffield University in clinical and group settings.
If desired by the post-holder there is an opportunity to incorporate on-call cover to the acute service as part of this role.
