Job summary

We require a Generic Therapy Assistant to work as part of the Orthopaedic team within the Therapy Services Department at Rotherham General Hospital. Your main responsibilities will be to assist with patient care on the Orthopaedic wards and to provide the administrative support to the team. The inpatient department currently provides therapy to a 28 bedded trauma ward, 28 bedded elective unit, childrens ward, fracture clinic and day surgery. The team is made up of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and existing support staff. Our aim is to provide a high quality, efficient seven-day service to maximise peoples independence and function with the intention of facilitating safe and timely hospital discharge and rehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

Your main responsibilities will be to assist with patient care and therapy on the Orthopaedic wards and to provide the administrative support to the team. Applicants should be excellent team workers and be able to demonstrate good communication skills. You must be physically capable of assisting patients with exercises, mobility and daily living activities. Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the county and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010
