Job summary
37.5 hours per week
Ward A4 is a busy 33 bedded elderly medical ward. For the right candidate this will be a rewarding opportunity to develop as a leader and learn additional management skills. You will be required to support the ward manager and step up in the ward managers absence.
We are looking for a caring, empathetic, enthusiastic individual who has a passion to improve the experience of our patients.
You will be required to have minimum 12 months experience at band 6 and ideally have some experience of working with elderly patients, have an understanding of reconditioning and have the passion to drive change and work as part of a team.
Main duties of the job
- Work clinically as the nurse in charge of the ward
- Facilitate safe discharge of patients in a timely manner
- Assist the ward manager to carry out audit / governance
- Manage concerns at ward level and via telephone
- Report and investigate incidents via datix (previous experience would be of benefit)
- Support junior members of the team and student nurses
- Display effective time management and organisational skills
- Be willing to take on additional duties to champion areas such as tissue viability / reducing falls
- Working in line at all times with the NMC code of conduct
