Job summary

As a Lead Pharmacy Technician in our Dispensary at Rotherham Hospital, you will take on a vital leadership role within our high-performing pharmacy team. You will lead a team delivering safe, efficient and patient-focused services. This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills in staff management, service development, and training.

You will provide professional leadership to dispensary based staff and assist in the training and development of student technicians and assistants, and play a key role in ensuring quality through audits, error reporting, and pharmacy governance. Your role will also include contributing to seven-day service and maintaining a friendly and professional environment for patients and colleagues.

Based at Rotherham Hospital, this post will require post holder to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as part of the rota. If Pharmacy Technician with strong leadership and organisational skills and a passion for service improvement, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and experienced pharmacy technician to lead from the front in a dynamic dispensary environment. As the Lead Pharmacy Technician, you will bring a proactive, hands-on approach to managing day-to-day operations, supporting staff, and championing best practice. You will need to be confident in your leadership, with the ability to motivate others, manage priorities, and keep quality and safety at the heart of everything you do.

  • Liaise and communicate with medical staff and other health care professionals when appropriate with regard to prescription queries both face to face and over the phone.
  • Experience of working in a dispensary.
  • Experience of supervision of staff.

  • To undertake Continuing Professional Development.

  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC
