Job summary
MRI Radiographer Band 6 or Band 5 Trainee (Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities Available) An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Radiographer to join our friendly, hardworking, and well-established MRI team at TRFT. We are looking for an enthusiastic, patient-focused, and skilled Radiographer. Whilst MRI experience is preferred, we also welcome applications for a training post (Band 5) with a structured development pathway to Band 6. As an MRI Radiographer, you will play a vital role in providing essential imaging services that contribute to patient diagnosis and treatment. We support a wide range of specialties, including Trauma, Orthopaedics, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, ENT, Vascular, General Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, Breast, Neurology, and Stroke Services. You will be working with Siemens Sola 1.5T and Avanto 1.5T scanners, requiring a technically minded approach with the ability to optimise imaging protocols. We actively support postgraduate education and professional growth, helping you develop in this highly specialised field. The role requires flexibility to work across a 7-day period, including 3 long days or 4 shorter days to ensure service coverage whilst supporting work-life balance. Main duties of the job
As an MRI Radiographer, you will be responsible for managing a busy and diverse workload, ensuring that all scans are performed efficiently whilst maintaining the highest standards of patient care. You will be required to organise and run scan lists, working in a fast-paced environment, managing inpatient and outpatient demands.A key aspect of this role is communication. You will also be responsible for reassuring and guiding patients, many of whom may be anxious or unfamiliar with MRI. You will work closely with Radiologists, referring clinicians, and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that imaging is delivered effectively and results are available promptly. You will be expected to demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills, helping to troubleshoot and contribute to continuous service improvement.Beyond scanning, you will play a role in quality assurance, equipment safety, and protocol development, ensuring that our MRI service remains at the forefront of imaging excellence. We actively encourage personal, supporting post-graduate training to enhance skills and career progression. Providing the opportunity to develop leadership skills, with potential to mentor and support junior colleagues.
