We are delighted to present this opportunity to join our growing emergency department in South Yorkshire seeing over 100000 patients per year. We are a friendly district general hospital and Trauma unit caring for both adults and children. These posts offer an opportunity to gain first experience in emergency medicine or consolidate on that gained previously. The rota is self rostered, 1 in 3 weekends, optional nights, and with 20% of paid time available to develop specialised interests to help build the career that you want. Options for that time include with our highly rated medical education team, ultrasound, Quality Improvement and as part of our work towards Green ED accreditation. For those unsure whether EM or GP is the future your time can also be spent working with our friendly OOHGP team. We will also consider bespoke support for other interests or projects which develop your career.
Rotherham offers the best of three worlds. The town is surrounded by beautiful countryside and offers affordable housing in both urban and rural areas. It is also a 20 minute drive or 30-40 minute cycle from the Bright city Lights of Sheffield (9 miles from the hospital to the city centre) where you will find many of your potential colleagues.
Main duties of the job
Sheffield has everything you could wish from modern urban living renowned cultural venues including the Lyceum and crucible theatres as well as Sheffield Arena, World class sports facilities, some of the best bars and breweries in the country and a thriving independent food scene. As the Outdoor City it is within a short drive or in large areas a short walk of the stunning peak district giving easy access to some of the best climbing, hiking and road/mountain/gravel biking in the UK. For those who wish to live outside South Yorkshire the hospital is 5 minutes drive from the M1 and 10 from the M18, with great access to West and North Yorkshire, and The East Midlands. These surrounding areas have further areas of natural beauty to explore including the Yorkshire dales, North York Moors and the East coast, as well as both Leeds Bradford and East Midlands Airport only one hour away.
We have 17 enthusiastic consultants keen to provide shop floor teaching and long term Educational Supervision as you continue to develop. Our team of clinicians includes an F2, GPVTS, ACCS CT1s, EM HSTs, CESR Doctors and a fantastic cohort of ENPs and ACPs. We also have a Consultant dedicated to medical Education who provides bookable time for supervision and guidance on and off the shop floor to really take your skills to the next level.
