Specialist Cardiac Physiologist/ Healthcare Scientist (AFC Band 6) 1.0 WTE 37.5hrs Permanent contract An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly team at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and knowledgeable Cardiac Physiologist/ Healthcare Scientist to provide excellent care across the range of cardiac investigations. The Cardiac Physiology Service at Rotherham is evolving and requires flexible and forward thinking staff. The successful applicant will have excellent communication and organisational skills and work autonomously across Non-Invasive Cardiology. We are seeking a fully qualified Cardiac Physiologist/ Healthcare Scientist with a broad range of expertise across a wide range of cardiac investigations. The successful candidate will perform a range of invasive and/or non-invasive diagnostics autonomously in a wide range of clinical settings. Due to the nature of invasive work, sessions may run beyond routine working hours and you must demonstrate flexibility and commitment to cover these lists. You will be expected to assist in device follow-up clinics. Applicants must have completed the BSc/ STP or equivalent qualifications and have appropriate clinical experience. Main duties of the job
To undertake a wide range of invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigations independently including: Physiologist and Doctor-Led exercise stress tests Physiologist-Led Tilt Table Tests Myocardial perfusion studies Left and right heart cardiac catheterisation Routine pacemaker implantation Assists (second practitioner) in Cardiac Device Clinic Open access GP ECG reporting service Ambulatory ECG/ BP hook up and Analysis Cardiac Event Recorders 12 Lead ECG Document findings/ writes accurate reports on diagnostic investigations in accordance with departmental protocols, seeking guidance from senior colleagues where appropriate Interpret data and alerts senior colleagues or clinicians to abnormalities within an appropriate timescale to maintain patient safety Day to day supervision and training of junior physiologists & cardiographers under the guidance of the senior colleagues. To act as a role model. To maintain continued professional development. To engage in training activities and to complete training/ competency assessments in keeping with departmental protocols. Organise and prioritises own workload and make the best possible use of equipment and resources Communicate with medical staff from within the hospital and from other centres/community for information regarding patient care Perform other relevant duties as specified by the Service Lead Please see JD for more detail.
