Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Support Worker to work within the Department of Clinical Radiology.
Applications are invited from individuals who have experience of working within a health care environment.
The successful candidates will be required to support the Radiology team in providing high standards of care to patients who attend for examinations within CT, Ultrasound, Breast Screening as well as the Radiology inpatient Bed Wait facility and also the CT mobile scanner located at Badsley Moor Lane.
The post includes supporting patients having interventional procedures, assisting with the running of clinic lists, assisting the Nursing staff with their duties and the general house keeping of the department.
The post holder will be expected to be competent in intravenous cannulation we will support you to learn and develop this therefore previous experience is not essential on application.
You must be able to communicate well with patients, members of the public as well as all members of staff within the multi-disciplinary team.
You will offer a patient centred approach and maintain privacy and dignity at all times.
Applicants must have NVQ Level 3 in Health or Social Care or equivalent such as Care certificate. A pleasant and caring manner and the ability to work as part of a team is essential for the role.
The post will include weekend work on a rotational basis and extended working days and will include Bank holidays.
Main duties of the job
Based within the Clinical Radiology Department the Health care support worker will assist the Registered Nurses, Radiographers, Sonographers, Advanced Practitioners and Radiologists in the day to day care of patients within the Clinical Radiology Department including Ultrasound, CT, Breast screening and MRI modalities, they will also work alongside Registered Nurses and Radiologists during Interventional Procedures and provide care and support to the patients in the inpatient Bed Wait area.
The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering a range of designated tasks/duties of a clinical and non- clinical nature including personal compassionate care to patients, working within agreed policy and procedures. The post holder will undertake assessment and recording of basic patient clinical observations/test results as part of the overall assessment of a patient.
