Job summary

A vacancy has arisen for Switchboard Operatives to join our established team of staff within the main Switchboard facility. The post holder will be required to be flexible to meet the service requirements as it is a 24/7 service. Have excellent communication and organisational skills coupled with sound experience of using a PC, have a confident and polite telephone manner and the awareness of confidentiality issues.

Applicants must be trustworthy, reliable and be able to prioritise work load and adhere to any emergency situation following departmental procedures.

Post:

18.45 per week

2 x 12 hours shifts over a 8 week rota pattern

Working 7.30 am 7.30pm or 7.30pm-7.30am

Main duties of the job

  • Working as part of a team but must possess the ability to work individually under demanding circumstances.
  • Assist in the provision of an efficient and courteous call handling service, using the current and any future call handling/monitoring/processing equipment and associated screen based equipment.
  • Dealing with enquiries from staff and general public.
  • Ensuring knowledge of and participating in the Major Incident and Emergency Procedures and associated documentation to ensure the accurate collection,
  • dissemination and recording of information and actions.
  • Participating in the operation and recording of various call out procedures.
  • Operation of staff location systems and issuing of pages, bleeps and phones in accordance with guidelines.
