Job summary

Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist (Rotherham Stroke Rehabilitation) 1 wte / 37.5 hr Permanent We have a fantastic opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our Stroke Rehabilitation Team. Our compassionate multidisciplinary team includes SLTs, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Practitioners, Therapy Support and admin staff. This skill mix enables us to offer holistic and bespoke rehabilitation. We provide a pathway of integrated care across the Stroke Recovery Unit (acute and rehab) and the Integrated Community Stroke Service (early supported discharge and community stroke rehab up to 6 months). We are the only therapy team across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw to work in this innovative and dynamic way. Our pathway provides a seamless transfer of care for stroke survivors and their carers.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will support patients with acquired dysphagia and communication impairments in both acute and community settings. The post holder will receive direct clinical supervision and group supervision, participate in regular in-service training sessions, evidence-based practice learning groups, and be supported to further develop both leadership and MDT Stroke specialist clinical skills. There are opportunities to support the team in service development and evaluation projects to order to enhance patient care and experience, and to contribute to the national targets associated with this specialty i.e. SSNAP. If dysphagia trained, the post holder will contribute to weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis.Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the county and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010
