Job summary
34.5 hours per week
As a registered nurse you will be responsible for supporting your manager in providing a high quality service across all specialities and supporting the patient through their journey through the out-patient department
Main duties of the job
- Prioritise the care requirements for identified patients.
- Organise and monitor the work and performance of junior colleagues providing constructive feedback, advice and on-going support.
- Assist in the management and organisation of work as required.
- Monitor progress of work within the unit, recognise changing priorities, implement corrective actions within own limits and inform the relevant people.
- Take responsibility for own continuing professional development and maintenance of personal development plan, identifying own development needs.
- Act as a role model and support professional development of all students and junior staff.
- Act as a mentor to assigned learners and to teach and support them through their competency assessments as required.
- Diffuse challenging behaviour, ensuring that the situation is managed in a sensitive way.
- Assume responsibility and management of the clinical environment as required.
- Monitor and maintain health, safety and security of self and others in own work area.
- Identify and assess potential risks in work activities and how to manage these risks appropriately.
- Take immediate and appropriate action in relation to adverse incident reporting utilising the hospital incident reporting system.
- Support the department in reducing hospital acquired infection and comply with the Trusts policies on infection, prevention and control, maintaining competency to effectively discharge these responsibilities.
