Job summary
As part of the Safeguarding Team the Safeguarding Lead Nurse will support the Named Nurses and midwife for Safeguarding Children, young people and adults at risk in meeting requirements set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018), Section 11 of the Children Act and regulation 13 Health and Social Care Act. The successful candidate will be supported by the Named Nurses/Midwife for safeguarding and work alongside the team to provide advice and support to staff across the completely safeguarding spectrum and drive forward service improvements throughout the Trust. The Safeguarding Lead Nurse will be a point of contact to provide expert safeguarding advice, guidance and supervision as well as being proactive in delivering safeguarding training in accordance with requirements laid out in the intercollegiate document (roles and competencies for healthcare staff) and the Trusts safeguarding training strategy. Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated practitioner with safeguarding experience to join our integrated Safeguarding Team, working full time within the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. The integrated Safeguarding team is made up of all the professionals working to safeguard adults and children, the Paediatric Liaison Nurse, Child Death Lead Nurse and Learning Disability Nurses. The post holder will support the team in progressing the safeguarding agenda, including promoting the Think Family principles when contributing to the improvement of safeguarding systems and processes, the development of policies, procedures and guidance, delivering training, supervision and expert advice to colleagues across the Trust. The post holder will have line management of the Paediatric Liaison Service and will develop close links with the Child Death Review Lead Nurse to support child death notifications and key-worker arrangements. The applicant must have experience working with children and families with safeguarding concerns, working in complex and challenging environments and working independently. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to develop their skills and competencies in safeguarding, working in both acute and community services.
