Band 7 SLT 2 days term time only

Base: Kimberworth Place, Kimberworth Road, Rotherham S61 1HE (5 mins from Meadowhall shopping centre)

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Speech & Language Therapist in our friendly and innovative Speech and Language Therapy traded team. The post holder will become the lead for the service once they are embedded in the team. The post will be to offer assessments and advice for children who are within the Looked after children's Virtual schools service. The role also includes training professionals and foster carers and may involve presenting at meetings and conferences as requested. Applicants should have a broad knowledge of Speech Language and communication needs and also experience of working with children and young people with SEMH and safeguarding needs.

This role may involve travel outside of Rotherham to assess Rotherham Looked after children who have been placed out of area.

Due to this being an external contract we would require the post holder to be available to start as soon as any recruitment checks have been completed.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide assessments for children and young people up to 18 years who have been placed in care
  • To write reports and programmes
  • To deliver training
  • To develop the service dependent on need and direction form the Virtual schools leads
  • To provide service outcome measures for the service to the Virtual school leads
  • To attend Virtual schools team meetings - post holder would need to work Wednesday for this role as this is the day Virtual school LAC MDT meetings take place
  • To be able to provide advice around SLCN to other professionals both within and outside the Virtual school service
  • To sign post children seen into the core NHS SLT service as appropriate.
  • To attend Department Team lead meetings in order to have oversight of Core NHS service and local pressures, drivers and pathways
