Job summary

3 days 22.5 hours permanent Band 6 SLT

Base: Kimberworth Place, Kimberworth Road, Rotherham S61 1HE (5 mins from Meadowhall shopping centre)

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist in our friendly and innovative Speech and Language Therapy team. We are looking for a dynamic SLT to provide assessment, advice and intervention for children with SEN and Autism.

The post holder would ideally have experience working with children with children with SEN/Autism preferably have experience working in a school environment collaboratively working with educational professionals to help meet the individual child's holistic needs.

It would also be desirable if the applicant had some knowledge of paediatric dysphagia or an interest in gaining these skills but this is not essential for the current role.

Rotherham is a friendly and dynamic Speech and Language Therapy department. Caseloads are divided into specialist teams to ensure that all therapists working with similar client groups are part of a strong supporting team.

Main duties of the job

  • Assessing and providing intervention for a case load of children with SEN
  • Work will be predominantly in school settings with regular touch in with other colleagues at our base.
  • To write programme of interventions for home and school
  • To contribute to any EHCPs for children on caseload
  • To support band 5 therapists within the team
  • To support the Team lead with the effective running of the team
  • To undertake regular CPD and in particular continue to develop expertise in the areas of SEN, low and high tech AAC and autism
  • Provide training when required as part of the school based SEN team.
