An exciting opportunity has arisen to join The Community Therapy team as Team Leader/Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist. The post holder will be an experienced physiotherapist in community rehabilitation and an aspiring leader.

This role will work alongside the current Team leader/Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist. Together, you will operationally manage this team of 47 staff including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, assistant practitioners, therapy support workers and a degree apprentice physiotherapist.

You will also hold a caseload of complex/diverse patients from the routine therapy part of the team delivering rehabilitation in their own homes. The team is sub divided into The CHAT (Community Hospital Admission Avoidance Team), Urgent Therapy team supporting The Virtual Ward, Routine therapy team, Falls team and YATT (Young Adult Transitional Team.) There is an array of skill mix within the team and supervision, development and learning is well embedded.

There is 7 day cover and the team works across the whole of the Rotherham Borough. To be successful in this secondment opportunity you will need to be experienced in the delivery of community rehabilitation and the admissions avoidance agenda. You will need excellent communication, time management skills and lead by example to deliver the highest possible care to patients. You will be supported by the clinical lead for locality therapy to be an influential part of this dynamic team.

Main duties of the job

Alongside your counterpart team leader, You will be responsible for managing the staffing within the team to ensure enough resource to deliver the service.

This will include managing absence and leave, sometimes at short notice. You will need to be familiar with Health Roster and System 1.

You will be the first contact for patients needing escalation and any concerns needing a clinical opinion. This will also include from other clinicians outside of the team and area.

You will be a key in leading on and carrying out recruitment in the team, and also induction and support for new starters to the team.

You will maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out physiotherapy interventions and be responsible for problem solving and supporting others in the team where needed. This will include delivering supervision.

You will be the first contact for areas of concern within the team with regards to governance or competence.

You will drive continuous improvement and instigate change by regular communication with the clinical lead and working together to operationalise change and development.

You will support with risk management and mitigation in the first instance in liaison with the clinical lead.

You will deputise for the clinical lead in meetings and lead on projects where appropriate.
