15.5 hours per week

We are looking to recruit a part-time Maternity Support Worker to work within Community Midwifery alongside the Blossom Team.

The Blossom Team supports diverse groups including; young parents, women with learning disabilities and neurodiversity, mental health issues and women with complex safeguarding issues.

The ideal candidate should be motivated and committed to join a supportive, forward thinking team and should have experience with Maternity, Neonatal or Paediatric Services. You will support the registered midwives providing direct care for women and babies in the antenatal and postnatal period. You will be involved in promoting health during pregnancy and early infancy, supporting parents in the transition to parenthood and life with a new baby.

Main duties of the job

  • Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, providing direct care to women, birthing people, and babies accessing maternity services.
  • To be actively involved in health promotion, including smoking cessation, healthy pregnancy, infant feeding, safe sleep and ICON.
  • Be able to organise own daily workload and have the skills to prioritise and plan a changing workload on a daily basis to meet the needs of the service.
  • To provide administration support where needed relevant to the role.
  • Provide additional support for women and families with complex clinical or social needs.
  • To deliver and assist in the education of birthing people and their partners in groups or individuals.
  • To work flexibly following procedures, guidelines and best working practices
