General Practitioner Primary Care & GP Out of Hours
This job is now closed
Job summary
GPs have an opportunity to join our team to work within the Urgent and Emergency Care Centre in Rotherham. We have several vacancies, including a maternity fixed-term role and other salaried roles, as we work to increase our substantive workforce. We are looking for General Practitioners with commitment, flexibility, enthusiasm, excellent clinical skills, and who are team players.
The trust has vacancies for GPs to work in the Primary Care element of the modern Urgent and Emergency Care Centre. This is a state-of-the-art urgent care facility combining traditional A&E services with Primary Care, including the GP Out of Hours service.
The UECC operates in an innovative and exciting way, using GPs and Advanced Clinical Practitioners to provide primary care consultations. This includes providing a Primary Care Streaming service as patients arrive, ensuring patients are seen by the most appropriate service or clinician. Where possible, this includes managing patients at the first point of contact and providing them with self-care advice or redirecting them to a more appropriate service.
Our model allows for the rapid and flexible management of workload and uses the expertise and skills of GPs to enhance the operational capacity of the UECC. In doing so, it recognises the unique and valuable skill set that GPs can bring to the Urgent Care setting.
Main duties of the job
The UECC is a busy environment with staff from all disciplines working together to apply the latest in current strategies for urgent care delivery. The Primary Care team within the UECC brings together primary care and GP Out of Hours services and is GP led with the support of Advanced Clinical Practitioners. The post holder will be managing all types of patient presentations that attend the department from minor injuries and illnesses to patients with acute or life-threatening conditions, which the post holder must feel confident in being able to assess and refer on as required.
Rotherham Urgent and Emergency Care Centre consists of an integrated workforce; bringing primary and secondary care expertise together to improve patient care.
In return, the Trust is able to offer very competitive rates of pay; remuneration offers further benefits such as pension, accrued annual leave, study leave and CPD time. Terms and conditions are no less favourable than the BMA approved GP contract. Shifts undertaken are indemnified by the NHS Resolution administered Clinical Negligence Scheme for Trusts (CNST).
This purpose facility creates a welcoming environment with excellent on-site facilities for staff. Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit the department for an informal tour and discussion.
Posts are available full or part-time, and will include a significant proportion of evening, weekend or night time working.
