Job summary

We are pleased to offer the opportunity for two Middle Grade Specialty Doctors (one substantive and one fixed term) in ENT Surgery to join our friendly and supportive team of ENT Surgeons at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. The department currently consists of 5 Consultants, 1 Associate Specialist, 1 Specialty Registrar and 6 Foundation/Core trainees working jointly with Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals. Day-case surgery and outpatient clinics are provided at Rotherham Hospital with inpatient care provided at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Main duties of the job

Virtually all aspects of ENT are carried out by the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust Consultants, except those requiring regional involvement for example skull base surgery and specialised paediatrics. The posts are based at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (main site). The permanent post involves an on-call commitment (second on-call) at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. The on-call commitment will be 1:9 with prospective cover for colleagues on the middle grade rota. There is no out of hours on-call with the fixed term post.

The post holders will work under the supervision of the Consultants in outpatients and operating theatres at Rotherham Hospital with occasional theatre sessions at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. The permanent post will involve a mixture of outpatient clinics and theatre sessions. The fixed term post will be largely outpatient clinic based with occasional theatre sessions. Both posts will involve a mixture of General ENT as well as subspecialty work in Head and Neck, Otology, Rhinology and Paediatric ENT. Both post-holders will be involved in providing care to patients with ENT emergencies at Rotherham Hospital between 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
