We are pleased to offer the opportunity for a Specialty Doctor on a 12 month fixed term contract in ENT Surgery to join our friendly and supportive team of ENT Surgeons at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. The department currently consists of 5 Consultants, 1 Associate Specialist, 2 Specialty Doctors, 1 Specialty Registrar and 6 Foundation/Core trainees working jointly with Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals. Day-case surgery and outpatient clinics are provided at Rotherham Hospital with inpatient care provided at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
Main duties of the job
Virtually all aspects of ENT are carried out by the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust Consultants, except those requiring regional involvement for example skull base surgery and specialised paediatrics. The post is based at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will work under the supervision of the Consultants in outpatients and operating theatres at Rotherham General Hospital with occasional theatre sessions at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. This post will be largely outpatient based with occasional theatre sessions. There is no out of hours on-call with this post although the successful applicant will take part in providing local middle grade emergency cover at Rotherham Hospital between 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday.

The Department
The successful candidate will join a team of five consultants, one associate specialist, two specialty doctors, one specialty registrar and six F2/ST1-2 doctors working jointly with Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals. Day-case surgery and outpatient clinics are provided at Rotherham Hospital with inpatient care provided at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. The on-call base is therefore at Doncaster, 18 miles distance via the M18 but there is a responsibility to cover ENT emergencies at Doncaster, Rotherham and Bassetlaw (Worksop) hospitals. There is a joint on-call rota with ENT surgeons at DRI at all levels.
A large proportion of all ENT operations are performed as day-cases at Rotherham including Mastoidectomy, FESS and Septorhinoplasty.
The sub specialist interests of the five Consultants cover most aspects of ENT surgery.

The post holder will participate in the effective running of the department, contributing to an equitable share of the workload.
The post holder will maintain a close working relationship with the other middle grades and consultant surgeons, the nursing and audiological colleagues.
