Rotherham Podiatry service has recently appointed a new clinical lead so this is a very exciting time to be joining the team and be an integral part of the restructure of the department. Our Podiatry department has a proven track record of internal promotions and upskilling of staff (non medical prescribing, IRMER so clinicians can request x-rays, shockwave therapy, acupuncture, steroid injection and leadership).
The role is community-based so due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the county and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
The role will involve provision of diabetic foot care to patients attending our hospital sites with active diabetic foot complications as well. You will also have the opportunity to do nail surgery, community clinics for eligible patients and Biomechanics clinics.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role is to provide podiatry care to the eligible population of Rotherham and the surrounding areas. The role will provide opportunities for development for the successful candidate. Although the role is offered as a Band 6 post, we would consider offering it as a Band 5/6 Development post for graduate podiatrists who require the clinical experience needed to work autonomously at Band 6 level.
As band 5 Podiatrist it is expected that you meet the agreed national standards for band 6 diabetic foot competency within a set timeframe before progressing to band 6. The service will provide mentoring and joint clinic working to facilitate the development of required band 6 level skills, knowledge and experience.
