Job summary
The Rotherham 0-19 Childrens Public Health Nursing Service are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated practitioners with initiative and drive.
The service delivers high quality public health nursing, promotes healthy lifestyles and improves health inequalities to children, young people and their families in Rotherham.
You will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills, be willing to facilitate and support change in service delivery, have the ability to work autonomously and as part of an integrated skill mix team.
Flexible and agile working options are available. Knowledge of the current health agenda relating to children's services is essential. You will work within one of the skill mix teams in the service but may also be asked to support the service borough wide.
You will have an important role in recognising and protecting vulnerable children and liaising with our partner agencies such as GPs, Schools, Social Care and Police.
Successful candidates will work across the 0-19 service ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality services to a caseload of babies, children, young people and their families - using research-based evidence to inform practice with agreed professional standards.
These posts require travel between homes, schools, and community hubs within the Rotherham area.
Some previous experience of working within a community environment or with School Nursing/Health Visiting would be beneficial but is not essential.
Main duties of the job
- To provide a consistent, effective, accessible and appropriate 0-19 Service for children, young people and their families.
- To work in partnership with agencies and families.
- To signpost to partner agencies where assessed as required.
- To be responsible for the delivery of public health and universal and targeted interventions across the 0-19 years age range. This will be delegated by the Specialist Public Health Practitioner for a defined population and will be delivered in line with the National and Local guidelines and public health priorities.
- The team will work proactively using a partnership approach to promote health and contribute to tackling health inequalities within the level of competencies required for the post.
- You will work with children, young people and families within the home environment, school or other identified community setting.
