Job summary

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is an innovative, integrated healthcare organisation which continues to develop at pace. The Pharmacy Department has recently had two new dispensing robots installed alongside a complete refit of the department and a commitment to a fully digital department to work along with our existing EPMA system. We are looking for an innovative and inspirational Pharmacist to join our expanding Pharmacy team. We are looking for a dedicated Pharmacist that will provide clinical expertise and leadership within the Pharmacy service to ensure a high level of pharmaceutical input and delivery of high quality antimicrobial stewardship in addition to their nominated clinical area of speciality across the Trust.

You will work with key stakeholders across the organisation and will be an integral part of the MDT, promoting antimicrobial stewardship to a complex cohort of Patients. You will work closely with the band 6 Specialist Pharmacy Technician for Antimicrobials and support the Consultant Microbiologists and infection control team in developing the Trust wide culture that reduces hospital acquired infections.

The post holder will have significant clinical experience and strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record of supporting antimicrobial stewardship. We are fully committed to the training needs of the individual and will support the right candidate with a structured training plan to support their development.

Main duties of the job

You will join and have support from a well-respected and experienced team, enhancing the care given to Rotherham Patients. You will develop, manage and monitor the delivery of safe, high quality Antimicrobial Stewardship.

The role of the successful candidate will include:

To work closely with the Microbiology Consultants, Deputy Chief Pharmacist and Antimicrobial Technician to develop and improve on existing audit tools to monitor antimicrobial prescribing.

To work closely with colleagues to develop training on antimicrobial stewardship prescribing and help deliver this across the trust.

To act as a role model for antimicrobial stewardship and clinical pharmacy practice in order to promote a consistently high standard of antimicrobial stewardship and pharmacy clinical services in line with the Pharmacy and Trust objectives.

Plan and undertake or support others in the Trust to undertake clinical audits, including national CQUIN projects related to antimicrobial use.

Provide strong leadership to clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians across TRFT in order to develop the quality and robustness of antimicrobial stewardship across the Trust and with our Key external stakeholders.
