A3 Ward Support Volunteer

Voluntary Services have a new exciting ward support role.

A3 is a 33 bed respiratory ward caring for patients with respiratory conditions; but also care for general medicine patients too. The ward strive to deliver a high quality of person centred care.

The times are - Mon Sun AM, PM and EVE

Main duties of the job

  • Take samples to labs
  • Collect and take to pharmacy
  • Welcome patients and visitors to the ward
  • Give out hand wipes and ensure bed table clean
  • Assist with meals and drinks
  • Encourage patients to eat and drink not to assist with eating and drinking
  • Support end of life patient and their family
  • Sit and chat with patients
  • Reassure patients and relatives
  • Sit and read/do jigsaw etc. with patients
  • Answer telephone
  • General tidy up
  • Collect and take back equipment to the equipment library
  • Making beds
