Job summary
The Rotherham Hospital and Community Services (TRFT) have an exciting opportunity for a full time Education and Development Matron (Agenda for Change 8a) who is compassionate and highly skilled in Nursing/ Midwifery education and leadership.
We are looking for a Registered Nurse/ Registered Midwife who is passionate about education and who has a knowledge of evidence-based practice and understands how this can inform our education and training plan to ensure that we can deliver high quality care across the organisation.
As an Education and Development Matron you will work with the Deputy Chief Nurse, Learning and Development Team and Heads of Nursing/ Midwifery developing and implementing a governance framework for education and development, in line with the new Trust People Strategy.
The role includes development and progression of national priorities with the Nursing and Midwifery workforce, including Recruitment Retention of Healthcare Support Workers, Student Nurse Placement expansion, the National Preceptorship Framework, the Pastoral Quality Mark for internationally educated nurses and expansion of the Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) role across the Trust.
You will monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of education and development across TRFT, working in partnership with the Learning and Development team to ensure the delivery of the highest standards of both pre and post registration education and training.
Main duties of the job
Manage and Develop the Education and Development Team Lead and implement Trust education and Development strategies in partnership with Learning and Development. In conjunction with the Head or Nursing/Midwifery and Deputy Chief Nurse Lead clinical practice initiatives, staff education and professional development. Support multi professional and interprofessional learning. In conjunction with the Head of Nursing/Midwifery and Deputy Chief Nurse lead policy development, supporting change, innovation and new ways of working for the nursing workforce. Work in partnership with Matrons, Lead Nurses & Midwives, and Sister/Charge Nurses/AHP leads to identify relevant education and training needs through the appraisal framework. Work collaboratively with local Universities/Higher Education Institutions and other training providers to ensure the delivery of the highest standards of both pre and post registration education and training. Act as a clinical and professional resource for the multi-disciplinary team, patients and service users. Work clinically alongside registered and non-registered staff promoting and delivering education, practice and the implementation of policies ensuring a workforce 'fit for purpose' and practice.
