Job summary

The Park Rehabilitation Centre has a large hydrotherapy pool, sports hall and weights gym that is open during weekdays, evenings till 8pm and Saturday amWe are looking for a competent swimmer with an interest in rehabilitation and Sports Therapy/Leisure who is eager to gain valuable life skills, enthusiastic, adaptable and organised individual to work as a Centre Assistant/Lifeguard ensuring the safety of all users of the facilities at the Park Rehabilitation CentreAs part of this role we will provide the training for you to gain an Emergency Pool Responder Qualification (EPRQ) recognised by all leisure providersYou will be provided 2 uniforms for when working on poolside and when working with income generation sessionsThese vacancies would be ideal for someone who is looking for evenings and weekend work to either fit around a busy family, studying or just looking for a change of pace and career

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities will be focused around the Hydropool and during your shifts you will have activities on the Hydropool side supporting the users and clinicians with equipment and ensuring they stay safe during their sessions following all guidance around water health and safetyDuring the income generation sessions you will be supervising the non-NHS groups advising users on safe use of equipment .e.g. exercise bike, rower and running machine in the sport hall and weights gym to encourage and support further rehabilitation following discharge from Therapy ServicesThe skills that you will demonstrate during your shift are strong written and oral communication with the ability to handle pressurised situations calmly with empathy and professionalismExperience of working in a public facing role and dealing with customer payments would be an advantage but not essentialCommunicating with people in an appropriate manner to ensure a level of understanding incorporating preferred ways of communication for all cultures and backgrounds providing inclusivity for allIt is a requirement of the post that the successful applicant accepts responsibility for securing the facilities at the end of the shifts and will be added to the key holder rotaEnsure that the rehabilitation centre is a safe environment for users to attend to continue their rehabilitation.Supporting the clinical teams during exercise groups when required in the sports hall and weights gym.
