Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced respiratory Physiotherapist who has a passion for respiratory care to join our therapy team based at Breathing Space.

The Community Respiratory Service sits within the Division of Community, Dietetics and Therapy Services. The aim of our service is to provide the best possible, evidence based respiratory care, for the people of Rotherham.

Our long-term goal being to improve health outcomes for this group of patients. Are you looking for a new challenge and have extensive experience in the delivery of pulmonary rehabilitation programs? Do you have experience of respiratory physiotherapy clinics including airway clearance, breathing control/breathlessness management and dysfunctional breathing.

If so then this may be the job for you! This role will appeal to an established band 5 looking to enhance their specialist skills and knowledge into a band 6 post, or a band 6 looking to enhance their outpatient knowledge and management responsibilities.

This is a pivotal role within the Community Respiratory Service and the successful candidate will provide leadership, specialist clinical expertise and advice to staff and patients on the management of patients/clients with highly complex respiratory needs.

Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard of Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapy to patients accessing the community respiratory service.

Undertaking comprehensive assessment of patients, using a range of recognised and specialised clinical assessment techniques including the interpretation of investigations and their results and modify intervention as appropriate.

You will undertake and supervise others in the running of evidence based face to face, virtual and telephone pulmonary rehabilitation programs, ensuring that patient outcomes are able to be demonstrated.

Formulate/develop and undertake an evidence-based treatment/rehabilitation plan taking into account the management options available. You will undertake respiratory physiotherapy clinics using specialist skills including airway clearance, breathing control/breathlessness management and dysfunctional breathing.

You will provide specialist respiratory advice and assistance to other therapy staff, medical and nursing staff and other members of the multi-disciplinary team regarding patients management.

The successful candidate will participate in CPD activities as appropriate and will be required to develop non clinical aspects of the role e.g. participation in interview panels, appraisal and audits. They will assist the team leader in ensuring all Therapy staff within the team receives at least an annual performance and development review, undertaking those of support staff as required and appropriate.
