Job summary

An excellent development opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and enthusiastic individual to join our small but forward-thinking team at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. The team provides a proactive, efficient and responsive service, with emphasis on procuring value for money, generating non-pay savings for the Trust in accordance with divisional cost efficiency targets. As a Senior Buyer within the Procurement function, and directly supporting the non-medical Category Manager and team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective sourcing of goods and services to support our operations. We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate they have the essential buying skills to support and drive excellent customer service to contribute to the strategic aims of the organisation. This is an office-based role that currently and informally allows two days per week working from home. The successful candidate will be required to travel to site a minimum of three days per week. This is subject to change depending on the requirements of the Trust.

Main duties of the job

To collaborate with other NHS Trusts, Hubs and regional/national bodies in establishing relationships to procure goods and services where joint commitment will yield enhanced value for money.To identify and implement savings opportunities which will deliver efficiencies to the Trust via cost reduction, cost avoidance, demand management or improvements to quality.To take responsibility for the negotiation of contracts/purchase agreements for goods and services not covered by existing formalised arrangements, where appropriate inviting quotations and tenders on behalf of the Trust.To support improvements to the delivery of key performance criteria for the department.To support the delivery of national initiatives via NHS England, the Department of Health and other national bodies.Responsible for auditing supplier performance and developing value for money process improvements on a recurring basis, sharing findings with colleagues and other organisations ie. ICS, Procurement Hubs.Uses initiative to improve results, share good practice and develop team working.
