Job summary

22.5 hours per week - permanent post

37.5 hours per week - 12 month fixed term contract

An opportunity has arisen for a Receptionist/Clerical Assistant to join the administration team in Acute Medicine.

As a Receptionist/Clerical Assistant, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive reception service as well as administrative support across the Acute Medicine footprint. This includes Acute Medical Unit, Short Stay Unit and Same Day Emergency Care.

The successful candidate must be able to work a variable rota which will include days, nights, weekends and public holidays. Please note: This role is based in a clinical area.

Main duties of the job

You will be the first point of contact to patients and visitors to the units and responsible for dealing with enquiries face-to-face, via the telephone and/or email, escalating/redirecting these as appropriate. This can be a demanding role which requires a high level of accuracy and the ability to keep calm under pressure, ensuring patient information and movement is captured in real time on our hospital systems, alongside other administrative duties. Excellent communication skills are a must, as well as a positive attitude and a strongly held commitment to high standards of service delivery in order for our patients to have the best possible experience.
