Nurse Practitioner Child Development Centre
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference for children and families referred to the Child Development Centre based within the community at Kimberworth Place.
We are looking for a full time Band 6 Childrens Nurse, Health Visitor or Learning Disabilities Nurse to join our friendly and long standing team. This is a waiting list initiative to improve families access to the service and to provide support through the assessment process. This is a fixed term contract until the end of March 2025.
The post holder will join our Nurse Practitioner and Consultant Paediatricians in providing first class health care and support for children aged 0-5 with additional needs. An interest in autism, developmental conditions and community working is essential. The post holder will be provided with training, support and supervision.

Main duties of the job
- To provide a comprehensive nurse led service along with the current Nurse Practitioner to support service delivery within CDC
- To provide post-diagnostic care, support and advice to children and young people diagnosed .To act as a key contact for children and families.
- To provide information, education, training and advice for patients, families and other health professionals.
- To support the Consultant Paediatricians in the health care of the children.
- To be a core member of the CDC multi-disciplinary team .Have an understanding of the needs of children and their families diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disorders and be able to provide support in terms of behaviour, sleep, toileting and eating disorders.
- Function as an autonomous practitioner and independent non-medical prescriber, running nurse led clinics.
- To exercise a high degree of clinical and professional autonomy by utilising advanced health assessment skills, decision making, communication and diagnostic reasoning skills when caring for children and young people with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- To provide telephone advice to families, monitoring a child/young persons health care and advising in changes of management for children with additional needs.
- Promote evidence based practice and take a lead role in the formulation of policies, procedures and multi-disciplinary care.
