We are looking for a Maternity Support Worker who is a compassionate and motivated individual, to assist women/birthing people in preparing for parenthood and supporting the Maternity team, predominantly within the Ante-Natal Clinic setting.

Rotherham Maternity Services are part of the integrated Family Health Service, which provides healthcare for the women/birthing people, and children of Rotherham, in both hospital, their homes and in community settings.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Maternity Support worker is to work alongside the Midwives and multidisciplinary team to provide practical, social and emotional support to parents and their families and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the antenatal clinic.

This is a varied and challenging role and you will need to be proactive and adaptable, to support the teams within the specialist clinics, such as the Diabetes clinic; supporting the delivery of education sessions and health promotion advice, including smoking cessation and infant feeding.

The post holder will be required to undertake baseline observations i.e. blood pressure, respirations, temperature, carbon monoxide monitoring and urinalysis, phlebotomy as well as providing both clinical and some clerical support within the department.
