We are looking
to appoint experienced and highly motivated Occupational Therapists to join our
dynamic and friendly Orthopaedic Inpatient Therapy team.
The Orthopaedic
Inpatient Therapy team provides care across several clinical areas including
the Orthopaedic Trauma Ward (Fitzwilliam) and Elective Orthopaedic ward
(Rockingham), Paediatric ward, Day surgery and Fracture clinic. There will be
some work within the community setting as part of these roles. The team covers
a 7-day service with weekday late nights to support the Orthopaedic Enhanced
Recovery Programme and the facilitation of our day case pathway.
Due to the nature of the role it is
essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the county
and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary,
adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
The
ability to work flexibly over 7 days is essential.
Continued personal development is encouraged and fully supported within the team, including funding for courses and the opportunity to showcase any developments within the team that they may be involved with.
Main duties of the job
The
team are supportive and proactive in our day case pathway and enhanced recovery
programme therefore there will be opportunity to be involved within service
development due to the recent success with our day case arthroplasty work. We
are currently ranked one of the highest achieving hospitals for our day case
uni-compartmental knee replacements which therapy support and with advances in
day surgery we will continue to be involved with pathway developments.
This
role requires assessment, treatment and management of a varied caseload of both
trauma and elective patients in a very busy Orthopaedic unit. This can include
pre-operative assessment through to rehabilitation and discharge planning.
Successful
applicants will have gained a broad range of postgraduate experience including
work within the Orthopaedic speciality and will join a dedicated team of
Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Support Workers, along
with a supportive wider Multidisciplinary team.
Youwill have the opportunity to provide clinical supervision
to other team members including junior Occupational Therapists, Therapy Support
Workers and students. They will also have access to regular support from a
senior level, supervision and specialised orthopaedic teaching within the team
and wider MDT including Orthopaedic Consultants.
