Main duties of the job
As a Purple Butterfly Volunteer, you will be part of a team of volunteers, directed by the service coordinator, who will offer support to patients receiving end of life care in Rotherham Hospital. Offering support across the wards to these patients and their families/visitors to enhance the levels of care our patients receive in their final days/hours of life.
This support will be offered in many different ways, and will be completely individualised from one patient to the next. It may be the patients family or visitors who require more support. You will have to access all the all resources that patients may benefit from at such a time, along with details of how these can be accessed by others.
You will have a designated Service Coordinator to contact while you are on shift to offer further support should you require it. This volunteer role has the potential for you to find yourself in extremely sensitive circumstances. A full volunteer support programme will be available for all Purple Butterfly Volunteers.
