37.5 hours per week
We
are seeking an experienced midwife with a passion for high quality services for
women and families and with a very keen interest in providing excellent
in-patient ante and postnatal care on Wharncliffe Ward.
The
post holder will have the ability to lead and inspire their team towards a very
clear vision of how care is to be delivered within the maternity unit. They
will be an excellent communicator and able to liaise effectively with
colleagues from other parts of the service and other disciplines.
The
enthusiasm and leadership drive required, will mean that you can effectively lead
the team to ensuring that the individual woman and her family have the best
possible care experience.
This opportunity is for
a Lead Midwife on the ante and postnatal ward, Wharncliffe.

Main duties of the job
The
post holder will manage a team of midwives, nursery nurses, maternity support workers
and ward clerks who provide our maternity service on the inpatient
ante/postnatal ward and the outpatient antenatal day unit.
There
are opportunities to maintain clinical skills and expertise in all areas of the
maternity service or on the post holders own ward.
The
Lead Midwife is one of 7 leaders at this level and as part of the maternity
leadership team they work with the Matron for Maternity (Acute) and the Deputy
and Head of Midwifery along with specialist midwifery colleagues in infant
feeding, diabetes, screening, bereavement and clinical practice education.
The
post holder will also work closely with other agencies such as the Childrens
service, Childrens Social Care and other agencies and service users striving
continuously to develop and improve the service.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Midwife with an effective live registration
- Teaching and assessing certificate e.g 997 998, mentorship or equivalent
- First degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
- Evidence of compliance with mandatory training in own organisation and on target for next period of Revalidation
- Current knowledge and clinical confidence in ante and post-natal care with knowledge of the management of care provision
- Knowledge of key national guidelines, standards and recommendations impacting upon maternity care
- Commitment to on-going professional and personal development
Desirable
- Working towards a masters degree in a health discipline, if this is not held then a willingness to undertake post graduate development is expected
- Holding or working towards non medical prescribing qualification or willing to undertake this programme
- Be qualified and experienced in the skills of neonatal first paediatric examination, or be willing to undertake this development if the service need requires this

- Current knowledge of the maternity care needs of women, babies and families with particular reference to in pregnancy and after the birth
