We are pleased to offer the opportunity for an enthusiastic Consultant with well-rounded training to join an existing team of Consultants.
The department currently consists of 4 Consultants, 1 Associate Specialist, 1 Specialty Doctor, 1 Specialty Registrar and 6 ST 1-2 doctors working jointly with Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals. At any one time The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust has 2 STR 1-2 doctors present at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust main site between the hours of 9.00 am and 5.00 pm. They attend clinics, theatres; deal with post-operative reviews and emergency work.
Main duties of the job
Virtually all aspects of ENT are carried out by The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust Consultants except those requiring regional involvement for example skull base surgery and specialised paediatrics. Day surgery is performed at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust main site, inpatient surgery and emergencies are undertaken at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
The post holder will provide assessment for General ENT and Otology service in Rotherham with In-patient care in Doncaster. This is a new post and should be able to cover general ENT, Paediatric ENT and Otology; Mrs Douglas specializes in Otology, Balance and Paediatrics and Mr Richards specializes in Thyroid and Voice, Mr Evans in Thyroid and Head and Neck surgery and Mr Pankhania specializes in Rhinology and Head and Neck. There is a strong emphasis on day surgery and accelerated recovery; along with routine procedures. It is standard practice for patients undergoing mastoidectomy, myringoplasty, septorhinoplasty and endoscopic sinus surgery, to have surgery as day cases.

In addition head and neck cancer patients are supported by a full-time Clinical Nurse Specialist in Head and Neck, to assist with the day to day care of head and neck patients.
