Endoscopy Deputy Sister/ Charge Nurse

Job summary

We are looking to recruit highly motivated Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to work in our nursing leadership team in at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust (NUH). To help lead and develop the well-established team of nurses within NUH Endoscopy. The services operates across the whole of NUH, at Nottingham Treatment Centre, City Hospital Campus and Queens Medical Centre Campus.

The Deputy sister/ Charge nurse will be based at Nottingham Treatment Centre. But it is a requirement that all staff members will work across the three sites when required. The role requires forward thinking staff, with some leadership skills. Who are enthusiastic and who can ensure that the highest standards of care are met. You will be pro-active in the professional development of the nursing team and will need to demonstrate the ability to manage both acutely ill and chronically ill patients, alongside co-ordinating the clinical area and nursing teams.

Main duties of the job

In addition to the below summary you need to familiarise yourself with full Job Description and Person Specification documents attached to this advert. The successful candidate will be required to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week.

Successful candidates must have excellent communication skills along with the ability to prioritise key tasks and should be able to learn new skills if required in a highly technical speciality.

You will Deputise for the ward Manager, and support them in leading the team, managing the clinical area, maintaining NUH/Endoscopy standards and being a role model to others. You will also be required to lead & manage a smaller team of Band 5, Band 4, Band 3, and Band 2. In aspect such as training, wellbeing, appraisals and supporting them in their work life balance.

You will also be expected to lead on number of projects and link roles. As delegated by your, and with support of your Manager.

Essential

  • Current level one NMC registration or Current HPC registration part 1
  • Diploma or Degree in health/nursing related Studies, or ODP equivalent study.

Desirable

  • Formal Leadership and Management Training

Experience

Essential

  • Min 2 years experienced in NHS Acute Care Hospital at band 5 or above.
  • Experience of leadership and/or management in acute clinical setting

  • Current Endoscopy Experience

  • Experienced in effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills when dealing with other Health Care Professionals. As well as Patients and General Public
