Health Care of the Older People, including a Dementia specialist unit and Admissions unit
Acute Medical Admissions
Regional Major Trauma Unit
Spinal Unit
Trauma and Orthopaedics
Regional Neurosciences Unit - Neurosurgery and Neurology
Oncology and Haematology
The rotation receives excellent feedback from our current Band 6's such as:
'The rotation offers a highly valuable experience to develop clinical skills with exposure tocomplex patients'
'Encouragement was given to take time for different parts of the role e.g. service development, training, teaching others, own wellbeing.'
We have available 2 posts:
1.0wte (37.5hrs) permanent (part time at a minimum of 0.5wte will be welcomed too).
1.0wte (37.5hrs) fixed term contract or secondment until 30/09/2026 (part time at a minimum of 0.5wte will be welcomed too).
As an Acute Trust, you will be required to work regular weekends (currently, for full time staff this is around 1 in 4 weekends - one day only). Respiratory on call duties will be expected, and adequate training to support you with this prior to going on the rota will be provided.
Main duties of the job
NUH is an exciting place to work and will be able to offer you training opportunities (both clinical and leadership courses that may be internal and/or external to NUH), the experience of working with highly skilled staff and expose you to the world of research and the potential to work with clinical academics to enhance evidence based care.
NUH is a large Acute Teaching Hospital and this post will allow you to work in many specialist areas with a huge variety of patients. Staff will be responsible for a diverse and complex clinical case load. You will be expected to work collaboratively across the MDT with a wide range of Health Care Professionals.
You will have excellent communication and team working skills. You will have a flexible approach and the ability to manage your own time and workload in what is a fast paced working environment. The post has a requirement that you manage and support Band 5's, Support Staff and Students on Clinical Placement allowing you to develop your leadership, managerial and teaching skills. You will need to lead the Team in the absence of the Band 7.
There is a requirement that you participate in weekend and emergency overnight on-call duties. Previous Respiratory on-call experience is essential.
