This is an exciting time to join Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. Following significant organisational change, we are strengthening our Financial Management structure to support the Trust as it progresses through the second year of its multiyear financial recovery plan.
The post holders will work collaboratively across the Financial Management team, contributing to the delivery of high-quality business and financial support for budget holders and managers. The role will assist Management Accountants with trend analysis, preparation of financial management accounts, and the implementation of robust controls and efficiencies across Care Groups and Corporate functions. This position is integral to maintaining accurate financial information and supporting informed decision-making across the organisation.

Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Management Accountant for coordination of work load and Care Group or Corporate Group for delivery, the post holder will provide financial support both to the entire financial management department on a prioritised basis, this will include all Care Groups and the Corporate Group including Estates and Research. The role will involve providing support to budget holders and management accountants by maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the financial ledgers to ensure the robustness of the financial information provided.

To support the divisional financial managers in preparing accurate and timely monthly and annual management and financial accounts.
To accurately prepare and input financial information such as budget and expenditure journals into the General Ledger.
To investigate and interpret information from the various feeder systems.
To undertake the analysis of income and expenditure budget reports, investigating queries and analysing detailed data to identify errors/discrepancies/variances, taking corrective action as required.
To maintain and reconcile a range of control and suspense accounts.
To calculate and raise sundry debtor requests, and investigate and resolve outstanding customer queries.
To provide costing information for the finance officers, deputy directorate finance managers or divisional finance managers and budget holders, as required.
To provide financial information to non-finance and finance colleagues as required.
To liaise directly and resolve enquiries from budget holders and non-finance colleagues.
To assist in the annual budget setting process.
To assist the monthly reconciliation of budgets and the maintenance of the current and recurrent budget position.

- Currently studying for minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification (e.g AAT intermediate/A Level).
