The Psychological Health team at the NRC undertakes highly specialist assessment, formulation, and neurorehabilitation, with patients with brain injury. We also work with patients who have experienced a muscular skeletal or spinal injury.
This post is entirely based at the NRC, but organisationally it sits within the Department of Clinical Psychology & Neuropsychology at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. This means that there are excellent opportunities for professional support, CPD and networking; including QiCN registered supervision.

Main duties of the job
Your role will be to provide highly specialist neuropsychology assessment, neurorehabilitation and advice, working directly with patients and their family. You will also work indirectly, providing advice to other NRC staff in order to meet the psychological needs of patients.
You will contribute to the teaching and training of NRC staff in order to develop their skills and knowledge, in meeting psychological need.
You will provide direction and clinical supervision to Assistant Psychologists within the team, and may be the primary supervisor for a trainee Clinical Psychologist on placement with us.
You will contribute to the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of the service.
You will contribute to, lead and/or supervise research activities

You will be employed by the Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology Department NUH, working in neurorehabilitation services primarily, and/or other specialisms as directed by the Head of Department. In the first instance this will be the Psychological Health team within the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) Loughborough.
Your role is to provide highly specialist neuropsychology assessment, intervention and advice, on the basis of advanced theoretical and practical knowledge, acquired through doctoral level qualification. This clinical activity will be direct to patients and/or their family, or working indirectly, to advise other staff (individually or as a group) how to manage highly complex cases. You will have patients allocated to you, and you will be responsible for managing their neuropsychological needs, act independently, and be accountable for your professional actions.
Primarily your work will be with patients who have an acquired brain injury, although you will also see patients who have a musculoskeletal or spinal injury, or functional neurological disorder.
You will contribute to the teaching and training of staff within the multidisciplinary team, supervision of trainee Clinical Psychologists, and other students who are on work placement with the team. You will supervise the clinical work of Assistant Psychologist(s) within the service, in their work with your patients, and/or be their primary clinical supervisor. However, this post does not have any budgetary or line management responsibility
In collaboration with the lead for the psychological health team, you will contribute to the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of the service. This will involve interpreting national guidelines and local policy. You will participate in clinical governance activities.
