HIV Department Leader

Job summary

The post holder will be expected to lead a team providing care for people living with HIV (LWHIV). Individuals LWHIV are predominately managed in an outpatient setting by the Genito-Urinary Team or Infectious Diseases Department and at times are inpatients at NUH. The post holder will be expected to manage the workload across all areas. HIV Department Leader will be expected to ensure integration of the nursing and medical, working alongside the HIV consultant lead.

Main duties of the job

Have managerial responsibility for patient care, maintaining safe staffing levels and budgets.

Ensure that the standards and quality of care given are maintained to a high standard, to include a safe environment in which care is delivered.

Have responsibility for ensuring that patients and service users are involved in their care.

Be aware of the care plans relating to every patient accessing the service, be visible and accessible to patients and staff alike.

Provide visible evidence that feedback is used to maintain standards or implement improvements that have an effect on patient care.

Be a leader and role model, providing regular direct clinical care, in addition to ensuring effective use of non-clinical time to support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance, facilitating the modernisation of patient services.

Commit to the standards within the NUH Professional Practice model and actively support the embedding of this within practice.

  • oCurrent level one NMC registration/HCPC registration
  • oProfessional knowledge acquired through obtaining a degree (BSc Hons in Nursing/health related studies), supplemented by clinical experience.
