This is a unique opportunity to work within the Rheumatology team based in Gateway E at the Treatment Centre at Nottingham University Hospitals
We are looking to employ an enthusiastic, energetic registered nurse who has an interest and experience in caring for patients with rheumatology disorders to become our next nurse specialist.
You will be working clinically as well as line manage the Rheumatology Nurse specialist teams which will include line management, roster management, sickness management as well as undertake appraisals and performance management. You will be accountable to the Matron.
Main duties of the job
Following training you will have your own list of patients with Rheumatology disorders, you will educate them on the treatments recommended by the consultants, and monitor their reaction to the treatment by assessing blood results, interpreting the significance of out of range results and assessing the patients condition both face to face and on the telephone. you will support patients who call the helpline with questions about the medications or their disease.
You will work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure all patients are treated with kindness compassion and with research and evidence based care.
About us
Nottingham Children's Hospital hosts the Tertiary Service for Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology in the East Midlands and will now be collaborating with Paediatric Rheumatology Services in Leicester. The Nottingham service provides clinics in Derby, Lincoln, Mansfield and Peterborough. The dedicated team comprises 4.4 Consultant Paediatric Rheumatologists, Registrar (often Grid trainee), Lead Nurse, Band 7 CNS's (2) Band 6 CNS (2), and PA to the nurses, Network Coordinator, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and Secretary. The service has well established links with other specialities and there are joint clinics with Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Endocrine, Respiratory, Immunology, and Renal amongst others.
In addition Nottingham Children's Hospital is a centre for excellence in the nursing of Children and Adolescence and was the first Paediatric Hospital in Europe to achieve Pathway to Excellence.
