Children's Preceptorship/Development Nurse

An exciting opportunity to work as part of the Children's Hospital Education Team has arisen.

This is an exciting time to be part of the Children's Hospital Education Team, with education and development central to the delivery of high quality care, and patient safety.

Our education team are committed in delivering our exceptional preceptorship programme for newly qualified nurses, pre-PIN nurses and nursing associates and the non-registered workforce.

You will work as part of the education team delivering education programmes including mandatory training, medical device training and clinical updates alongside multi-professional colleagues across the Trust, and be committed to delivering excellence in staff experience to all our learners, nurses and nursing associates.

You will need to be a highly motivated, skilled clinical practitioner, a professional role model and communicator, with evidence of a experience of supporting learners in the clinical setting.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities will include:

Working clinically with a variety of learners, including newly qualified nurses and nursing associates and students

Develop and deliver clinical and educational programmes in both classroom and clinical settings

Working in collaboration with nurse educators and senior nursing teams to ensure a supportive learning environment.

Provide support to preceptees with any difficulties they may encounter e.g. by formulating action plans, side by side working, support with the completion of education packages, performance management issues and liaising with ward teams.

Contribute to trust wide preceptorship groups and maintain links with wider regional groups.

Proactively participate in clinical supervision as a supervisee and a supervisor.
